Sky issues plan to keep services live

Sky has issued advice to new and existing customers over expected delays in its call centres.

The TV provider is asking users to go to the Sky website instead of calling because there are now fewer staff in call centres and they are experiencing a large number of calls.

Services such as viewing bills, upgrading packages and reporting any technical issues are available online and Sky says users should log in and use the website before choosing to call directly.

Meanwhile, new customers may have to wait longer to secure an installation date amid the current Covid-19 virus outbreak.

Sky has suspended services allowing you to book a house move or make a change of address online, while the £100 introductory offer for referring a friend to a Sky package is not available on the website.

A statement from the company says: "Sky, like all businesses, is having to work differently during the COVID-19 pandemic and prioritise the wellbeing of our staff, so our resource levels in call centres is reduced. All our digital services are still available as usual, including Sky.com, MySky app and through your Sky box.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and putting plans in place to help keep our services up and running for our customers.

"However, we are currently experiencing high call volumes into our call centres so we would like to remind you that you can do most things online; on our website, MySky app or your Sky box."
