Sky is down: Broadband issues leave users unable to access the internet

UPDATE: The issue has now been resolved.

It's one of the most popular internet providers in the UK, but it seems that Sky had issues with its broaband this morning.

According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 10:41 BST, and affected users across the UK.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported problems, 91% reported problems with internet, 6% with TV, and 1% said they were experiencing a total blackout.

A Sky spokesperson said: "We are aware there was an issue with some of our broadband services in the Yorkshire and Humber area earlier today.

"This issue has now been resolved and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.”

Several frustrated users took to Twitter to discuss this morning's outage.

One user wrote: "Sky broadband down in Sheffield right now. Working from home is (not) fun! Got my appraisal in 10 mins on video call!"

Another added: "Is it a normal working day unless Sky Broadband goes down?"

And one joked: "Last time Sky Internet was down in Sheffield and Chesterfield it took around 3 hours to fix, my work are gonna love me."

This isn't the first time that a network provider has experienced issues during lockdown.

EE, O2, GiffGaff and Virgin Media have also experienced outages over the last few weeks, leaving many people unable to get online.
