Sky Ireland responds as thousands affected by broadband issues in Dublin and surrounding areas

A major broadband issue has left thousand of Sky customers without WiFi in Dublin and the surrounding region.

Having initially appeared to be a problem for just the Malahide area, the issues spread across the eastern region as more and more customers found themselves without connection.

The official Sky Ireland twitter account had made a point of their awareness of the problems this morning

"Good monring all, we are aware of a broadband issue in the east, affecting Malahide and the surrounding areas."

Having initially believed that there would be a resolution at 9.30am, this was pushed back just an hour later.

A second tweet followed:

"Hi all, we are expecting a resolution from around 11am for the current outage affecting Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush and Lusk as well as the surrounding areas."

Then, at 10.51, Sky tweeted to say the issue had been resolved.

This was not the case - and many users got onto the company to complain that they were still without internet as recently as 4pm.

One tweeted: "For heavens sake the internet is down again here in Rush. What is happening please ?"

While another said: "Any sign of this been fixed folks? Bit ridiculous at this stage"

Sky's latest tweet promised ''further updates'' as the issue heads for a resolution.
