Sky guard Sydney Colson revealed on Twitter Saturday morning that she has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“I do the least and tested positive so I’m tryna see how folks who do the mooost are out here partying and feelin grand,” Colson tweeted.
Colson — the second known Sky player to have contracted the virus behind Stefanie Dolson, who announced she recovered from it in April — had been quarantining in her native Houston leading up to this season. Texas has seen a surge in cases over the last two weeks, which led state officials on Friday to tighten restrictions again.

This week, the Sky welcomed back their out-of-market players to undergo physicals and begin individual workouts at Sachs Recreation Center, the team’s practice facility in Deerfield, as they prepare for their upcoming season. Players have to go through three rounds of COVID-19 testing over the next few weeks as part of the league’s preliminary screening process before they can travel to Bradenton, Florida, where training camps and the abbreviated 22-game season are expected to take place starting next month.
Colson’s positive test result means she has to self-isolate and follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s protocol. She won’t be able to travel to Florida until she has two negative test results, ESPN reported.
The Sky signed Colson in February to be point guard Courtney Vandersloot’s backup this season. In 2019, Colson, who is entering her seventh season, averaged 3.3 points, 1.8 assists and 11.5 minutes with the Aces.
