Sky Glass without the TV is now possible thanks to launch of Sky Stream puck

Sky has unveiled another gadget to its media output which will allow customers to watch Sky channels without a satellite dish or a Sky Glass TV.

Previously only those who had signed up for the new state-of-the-art Sky Glass TV could watch and subscribe to Sky channels without having to use a satellite dish or Sky box but now the media giant has adapted one of their relatively new products for those customers who haven't got a Glass TV or are looking to smarten up their TV set at home.

Sky Stream puck will allow non Sky Glass owners to watch Sky TV without a dish for the first ever time. The puck will be available as a standalone device and will allow users to plug the puck into any TV and stream the full-blown Sky Glass experience over Wi-Fi - without a dish, that includes live TV and on-demand apps.

The puck is designed to smarten up any TV users already have with voice control, endless playlists and tailored recommendations, most of the Sky Glass experience. The only downside is that it won't have the 360⁰ Dolby Atmos sound, or quantum dot screen technology that customers experience with the Sky Glass TV.

Nevertheless users can playlist their favourite shows across apps, channels, the TV guide and on demand by simply pressing the plus button to create an endless personal playlist. It's also UHD HD and Dolby Atmos ready.

Sky is yet to reveal the price of Sky Stream puck as the standalone device will be released later this year, but Sky Glass owners who want Sky Glass in more than one room must pay an extra £10 per month, plus a £50 one-off payment for each Sky Stream puck.

Those who want to watch Sky channels via broadband and don't want to wait for the puck to be launched can opt for the Sky Glass TV. It’s the only TV with Sky Inside, so users can stream every channel, show and app over WiFi, without a dish and no messy wires.

There are six powerful speakers built in, giving 360⁰ Dolby Atmos sound, as well as quantum dot screen technology for brilliant colours, contrast and Ultra HD. What’s more, it’s the only TV to be certified CarbonNeutral.

Following huge demand for Sky Glass since it was unveiled last year, the TV experience will get even better and will be available to even more people in 2022 with:

  • The launch of the high spec 4K smart camera that works seamlessly with the TV to unlock a range of exciting new services for the whole family
  • The Sky Stream puck will be offered as a standalone product later this year, currently only available when you buy Sky Glass.
