When the Sky signed WNBA champion, five-time All-Star and two-time league MVP Candace Parker they became immediate WNBA Finals favorites.
The already-talented team needed an MVP-caliber player, general manager and coach James Wade said following the acquisition.
Chicago officially begins its pursuit of the organization's first title on Sunday with a 20-player training camp roster.
The Sky return to training camp as usual for the first time in a year. Last year's camp was postponed due to the pandemic before teams ultimately ended up heading to the bubble in Orlando for a shortened season.
This roster includes first-round pick Shyla Heal and eight players signed to training camp rosters. Lexie Brown, who was waived by the Minnesota Lynx earlier this week, is one of those eight players.
By May 13, two days ahead of the Sky’s season opener against the Mystics, Wade will have his roster cut down to 12 players.
Training camp begins April 25, but players have been arriving in Chicago over the last couple of weeks. COVID-19 protocol requires players return multiple negative tests before they can join any group activity. Rookie Natasha Mack said she is already vaccinated but has still been isolated in her hotel room ahead of camp.
