'Sky drama' filming begins as trucks spotted near Liverpool ONE and Hilton Hotel

Large film trucks were spotted outside Liverpool ONE and the Hilton Hotel earlier today as the city’s reputation as a filming hotspot continues to grow.

Liverpool and in particular the city centre has been a hive of filming activity in recent weeks with various productions setting up camp.

Film crews have been spotted in numerous locations across the city since the turn of the year, notably for BBC’s Ridley Road and period film Munich ‘38.

Many of the projects however remain under wraps with cast and crew remaining tight lipped on each project.

Today in the city centre, vans and trucks for lighting and set equipment were parked up on Thomas Steers Way.

Pictures taken from the street, which also boasts Liverpool ONE’s water fountain, show large vehicles with visible logos which read: ‘Film and TV Action’ and ‘Film & TV Lighting’.

Members of the crew, wearing face coverings were also pictured in the designated fenced off area.

The ECHO understands the trucks are linked to film crews working on season two of Sky’s political drama, Cobra.

Cobra is a Sky One original starring Robert Carlyle and Victoria Hamilton. The series follows the British Government and its COBRA committee - and how they deal with national emergencies.

It is believed filming took place in Liverpool ONE’s multi-storey car park throughout the day.

The city has already appeared in the first season of the series, when Robert Carlyle (who plays the Prime Minister) visited the University of Liverpool for his daughter’s graduation.

It is thought that the second series, currently being filmed in Liverpool, will see an assassination in Britain that leads to a serious chain of events.

It is not yet clear when season two will be aired on our TV screens but with production already underway, fans of the show won’t have long to wait.
