Sky confirms it is showing new films on their cinema release dates

Sky is adding the latest films to its box at the same time as their cinema release date.

As cinemas across the UK announce their closures for the foreseeable future the TV and broadband provider will be releasing big blockbusters to its on-demand service, reports ChronicleLive.

It will begin on April 6 with DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour, the sequel to the 2016 hit film, starring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake.

Originally due in cinemas during the Easter break, families will now be able to watch it from their home as many people are under self isolation.

In partnership with Universal, the likes of The Invisible Man, Emma and The Hunt will also be added on Friday, March 20.

It follows Disney+ in the US adding Frozen II to its service early, and other films including Cats being added to Amazon Prime early, following the coronavirus outbreak.

More films are expected to be released early on Sky Store, Amazon Prime and more in the coming weeks if cinemas remain closed.

Meanwhile Sky has launched a number of temporary benefits for its customers including free Sky Go Extra, so houses can watch Sky on three screens at once. Plus free landline calls at any time of the day and a 10GB data boost free of charge.
