Sky Broadband down in Scotland as thousands unable to connect to internet

Sky Broadband is down in Scotland leaving thousands unable to connect to the internet.

Customers have reported issues across Edinburgh, Glasgow and the central belt with many unable to use the web.

Frustrated users claim internet connection has been down for more than two hours as millions continue to work from home.

Sky said it was aware of issues in Scotland and would be 'investigating'

The internet service provider tweeted: "We're aware of issues in East & Central Scotland at the moment and our teams are investigating.

"We'll tweet out updates when available. My apologies for any frustration caused."

There have been more than 3,000 reports of issues with broadband being down since around midday on Thursday, according to website Down Detector.

It's unclear what is causing the outage, with customers taking to social media to complain about the issue.

One wrote: "WFH issues with no internet connection and no landline. (Edinburgh)"

Another commented: "Down in Edinburgh for the past hour."

"Down in Dundee just now," one wrote, while a fourth said: "Out in Midlothian."

A Sky spokesperson said: "The majority of Sky customers impacted by the issues with Broadband and Talk in East and Central Scotland should now have their service restored. We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused."
