Sky broadband customers face widespread outage

Sky broadband customers in England and Wales faced a widespread internet outage in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to network scanning app Fing, the outage affected just over 35% of subscribers in England as of 2.15am.

Fing said the issue was England-wide, with major cities impacted including London, Stoke-on-Trent, Wigan, Coventry and Cheltenham.

There were also problems reported in areas including Plymouth, Milton Keynes, Southampton, Nottingham, Leeds and Manchester.

The issue was resolved by 4.45am.

Meanwhile in Wales, Fing said 65% of Sky broadband subscribers were affected as of 2.30am.

The outage hit areas including Cardiff, Pontypridd, Bridgend, Brecon, Abersychan and Tonypandy.

This outage has also been rectified.

The MySky mobile app, which allows users to manage their accounts, was also down.

A message on the app said: "Sorry, we're doing a bit of scheduled maintenance.

"We'll get things back up and running as soon as we can."

Sky has been contacted for comment.
