Sky announces new film deal and it's good news for customers

Sky have this week announced a new long-term deal with American production company Sony Pictures.

In what is described as a "dynamic and challenging time" for the industry, the agreement will ensure that all new and future Sony Pictures titles will now be available and exclusive to Sky Cinema.

This, in the short term, will include first-rights to recent hits like Jumanji: The Next Level , Little Women, Bad Boys for Life and Peter Rabbit 2 .

The arrangement between the two parties also extends across other Sky services, including the Sky Store, Sky X and NOW TV Cinema and Entertainment.

As well as what's to come, Sky will also be pleased with their ability to access Sony Picture Entertainment's prolific back-catalogue of classics that include Ghostbusters , Karate Kid and the Spider-Man franchises.

Away from Sky Cinema and into the world of Sky Entertainment, several Sony Pictures TV titles will also move across including a brand new legal drama For Life that premieres later this year on Sky Witness.

Sony's Regional Executive VP Mark Young said: "We are delighted to extend our special relationship with Sky through this new and improved movie and TV series deal."

"Our continued partnership is a tremendous way to present the full power of our library, in conjunction with our most popular titles, to Sky customers across Europe."
