Sky and BT 'plan to put cameras in Premier League dressing rooms' when action restarts

Sky and BT Sport are reportedly planning to put television cameras inside Premier League dressing rooms when top-flight action resumes.

Plans are afoot for a resumption next month with the Premier League and government keen for football to return behind closed doors.

All remaining games are set to be televised, with Sky and BT screening the bulk of those, while a handful are also set to be made available free-to-air on the BBC.

And, according to the Daily Mail, clubs will discuss giving unprecedented access including microphones in the technical area and cameras in dressing rooms.

Increased access could reduce the sum clubs will be forced to pay back to broadcasters given the half to the season amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, even if - as expected - the campaign resumes.

Due to a three-month period without games and a perceived inferior product when football returns - given the lack of supporters - a partial refund could total as much as £300million.

Broadcasters are also keen for a camera in the tunnel, as well as interviews at half-time with managers or players from both sides.

In a document circulated to clubs ahead of Monday's shareholders meeting, the Premier League reportedly stressed that 'any additional access confined to period when fans cannot attend'.

Discussions over training protocols are set to be at the forefront of the meeting, and a positive outcome could see players begin to train in small groups as early as tomorrow.

The government have given the green light for sport to resume in June, but it is likely to be the second half of the month before the Premier League restarts.
