Skull found by Motherwell roadside confirmed to be 'human remains' as police investigate

A skull discovered by a member of the public has been confirmed as human remains.

The grim find was made on Friday in the Bellshill Road area of Motherwell.

Police were called to the scene around 5.30am after the alarm was raised.

Concerned locals say cops remained in the area for several hours as they investigated the find to determine whether the skull might have been 'fake' or 'a piece of missing memorabilia'.

However, after an investigation, Police Scotland said today the skull is indeed human remains, reports the Daily Record.
