There are many people who worship the faceless ones. The faceless ones are gods who wanted to rule the earth and have the sorcerers as slaves. At the time, sorcerers were called the ancients. For 200 years, the ancients accepted that they should be slaves to the faceless ones, but after 200 years, the ancients had their own ideas and didn't want to be bossed around by the faceless ones. So, they invented the septer. Everything that met its beam of light crumbled to dust. The faceless ones fled to a different dimension.
There were still worshipers of the faceless ones in the present day and they were determined to bring the faceless ones back and they would destroy the world. It is a fight between gods and sorcerers and I would recommend the book to anyone of ages 10 and over. If you enjoy battles of magic and humour popping up and making you laugh, this is just the book for you.
I would give this book 5 out of 5! This book includes humour, end-of-the-world-crisis and 2 characters fighting together. The world's fate is on the shoulders of a skeleton detective and a 13 yr old girl. Will Skullduggery and Valkyrie come through the battle of gods and sorcerers? Or will the world CRASH and BURN?
