Skoda Slavia facelift launching August 18: New design, features and 8-speed automatic gearbox expected

Skoda has released a teaser for the Slavia facelift ahead of its scheduled launch on August 18. The mid-cycle update is expected to introduce exterior and interior revisions, additional features and a possible upgrade to the automatic transmission paired with the 1.0 TSI engine.

Skoda Slavia facelift: Expected exterior changes

The updated Slavia is expected to receive revised headlights, fog lamp housings and bumpers, along with a redesigned front grille. The grille could feature integrated lighting elements similar to those seen on the Kushaq.

The facelift may also bring redesigned alloy wheels as part of the sedan's exterior update.

Larger display and new upholstery expected

The dashboard layout is likely to remain largely unchanged, although Skoda could introduce a larger 10.25-inch digital driver's display and refreshed seat upholstery.

It remains unclear whether the facelift will receive a rear-seat massage function, a feature introduced with the Kushaq facelift earlier this year.

Existing features such as a sunroof, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, six airbags and a tyre-pressure monitoring system are expected to continue.

1.0 TSI may get 8-speed automatic gearbox

Skoda is expected to retain the existing 115hp 1.0-litre and 150hp 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine options.

The 1.0 TSI could continue with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while its current 6-speed automatic transmission, the AQ250, could be replaced by an 8-speed AQ300 unit. The latter debuted with the facelifted Kushaq.

The 1.5 TSI is expected to continue with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Skoda Slavia facelift price and rivals

The Skoda Slavia is currently priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh, ex-showroom. A slight price increase is expected with the upcoming facelift.

The Slavia will continue to compete with the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus.
