Skipton and Ripon General Election 2019 results in full

Voters in Skipton and Ripon have gone to the ballot box to elect their MP in the General Election 2019.

A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the constituency, which includes the district of Craven, and the Borough of Harrogate wards of Bishop Monkton, Kirkby Malzeard, Lower Nidderdale, Mashamshire, Newby, Nidd Valley, Pateley Bridge, Ripon Minster, Ripon Moorside, Ripon Spa, Washburn, and Wathvale.

The sitting MP before the election was the Conservatives' Julian Smith.

The seat has been held by the Tories since 1983.

It voted to leave in the 2016 EU referendum.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday December 12 with the vote expected to take place overnight.

Results:

New MP Conservative Julian Smith.

Breakdown:

Conservative: Julian Smith - 34, 919

Labour: Brian McDaid - 11,225

Liberal Democrat: Andrew Murday - 8,701

Green: Andy Brown - 2,748

The Yorkshire Party: Jack Render - 1,131
