Skipper Joe Shaughnessy insists St Mirren must improve home form to grab top six spot

Joe Shaughnessy insists St Mirren have to turn their home fortunes around to push back into the top half of the table.

The Buddies were well worth their point at blustery Pittodrie on Saturday, but were pushed out of the top six as Dundee United overcame Livingston.

The Paisley side still have two games in hand on the Terrors, starting with tomorrow night’s visit of Hamilton Accies.

Saints skipper Shaughnessy believes the club can strengthen a spot in the top half if they can make home advantage count this fortnight.

He said: “We’ve got a run of four home games now including the ones we missed out on earlier in the season which can strengthen that challenge.

“I actually think we’ve taken more points away from home so far this season, so this is the chance to change that.

“If we can get a run of positive results over this run of games then we can really put ourselves into a strong position for the last few weeks of the season.

“We were disappointed to lose the way we did against Celtic, as losing three goals in three minutes hasn’t really happened to us this
season.

“That’s why it was so important to come up to a place like Pittodrie and come away with a point and a clean sheet.

“They threw on every attacking player they had but we dealt with that.”
