A skipper has been treated for minor injuries after a yacht became grounded south of Newcastle.
Emergency crews who responded to a mayday call just after 7pm on Thursday found the vessel about 250 metres offshore of the rocks at Caves Beach.
It appeared the yacht hit rocks shortly after running aground.
The single occupant of the vessel managed to abandon the yacht and made it to shore, where police and paramedics found him. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also called to the scene.
He was treated for minor cuts and abrasions.
