Skipp, Emerson and Bissouma decisions - Tottenham team Conte should select to face Newcastle

Antonio Conte needs to pick the mood back up at Tottenham Hotspur as Newcastle United come to town in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs were dismal in their defeat at Manchester United in midweek after a run of three victories on the bounce and they face a tough task in getting back to winning ways against Eddie Howe's in-form Newcastle side. The Magpies sit in sixth place, just five points behind Tottenham in third, and have lost just one match this season.

We asked our Spurs correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest to name the team they would like to see Conte select at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. Here are the starting line-ups they went for.

Conte confirmed that Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison remain out injured and that with Lucas Moura not yet ready to start a game, he was likely to stick with the 3-5-2 formation. The question for him is whether to stick with the same personnel or to mix it up a bit. All the midfield three struggled at Old Trafford and Conte might feel that it's time to hand Oliver Skipp an opportunity in the midfield.

Clement Lenglet could come in to hand Ben Davies a rest after back-to-back starts while both wing-backs could be rotated with Ryan Sessegnon coming in for Ivan Perisic on the left. On the right Conte appeared to be hinting that Emerson Royal could return to the line-up following the end of his suspension with Matt Doherty having had lots of game time in a short space of time.

Gold's team: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Kane, Son.

Conte certainly needs to make a couple of changes here and there after that dismal showing at Old Trafford in midweek. One change likely to happen at the back is Clement Lenglet coming in for Ben Davies as the boss does like to rotate both players.

Conte must decide if Emerson Royal comes straight back in following his return from suspension in place of Matt Doherty at right wing-back, while it wouldn't be a shock at all to see Ryan Sessegnon return on the left flank. Despite the 3-5-2 system not enjoying much success in midweek in Manchester, Conte is going to have to persist with the setup as Spurs are lacking in attacking options to go with the usual 3-4-3 formation.

While all three midfielders struggled in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat, Yves Bissouma could be the player most at risk as Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are Conte's trusted two. As a result, that could open the door for Oliver Skipp to come in for his first start of the campaign.

Guest's team: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Doherty, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Kane, Son.
