Skeleton of mysterious sea creature washes up

A skeleton of a mysterious creature washed up on a beach, and people aren’t sure what it is.

The unusual specimen was discovered on Rhos-on-Sea beach, in Conwy, North Wales on Tuesday, June 16.

And it has left a number of people scratching their heads wondering what it is, according to North Wales Live.

The creature had completely decomposed leaving behind only its spine and skull still intact.

Photographer Ken Shaw shared an image of the remains, which were found by the jetty on the beach.

Ken said that the skeleton measured around 18 inches in length and that his first impression was that it was some kind of dogfish.

The post has since been shared multiple times, with guesses as to the species of the creature ranging from bass to a conger eel.

Parts of its skeleton, such as the jaw, are missing, which makes identifying the creature all the more difficult.

Experts from Bangor University have suggested that the remains could be that of a juvenile conger eel, though they could not say for certain from looking at the photograph as some parts of the skeleton are missing.
