Skeletal remains found at Chinchilla Weir as part of missing child investigation

Police have found skeletal remains at the Chinchilla Weir in southern Queensland as part of the investigation into the suspected death of a missing child.

The remains are undergoing forensic testing.

On Monday, Tane Saul Destage, 40, and Sinitta Tammy Dawita, 28, were arrested over the death of Kaydence Dawita Mills, who would have been five this year.

The pair have been charged with murder, torture and interfering with a corpse but did not appear in the Dalby Magistrate's Court and were remanded in custody.

Kaydence was born in September 2014 and police said she had not been seen since 2016.

Police said the two people charged were known to Kaydence.
