Skegness paddling pool shut after vandals damage attraction

A paddling pool in Skegness popular with holidaymakers and families has been closed for repairs after someone damaged the attraction.

The Fairy Dell, which is usually very busy during the summer holidays, will be closed for at least two days.

On Facebook East Lindsey District Council announced that the pool, which is free to enter, will be closed today (July 30) and tomorrow (July 31) for 'urgent repairs'.

The water filtration covers and pool circulation outlets both need to be repaired.

A power fault in the plant room will also be fixed while the attraction is closed.

The council is hoping to open the pool again on Thursday (August 1).

Regular visitors were quick to comment with disappointment on the Facebook post.

One user said: "Great plans ruined will find something else kids was looking forward to going tomorrow.

"Why can't people just respect things. Before we know it they'll be wanting to close it for good again!"

Another said: "If only it was the holiday makers doing this we could blame them, unfortunately it's the local kids spoiling it for everyone."

Another visitor said: "I honestly think this shouldn't be free anymore if people cant respect and look after stuff they have free access too why should the council keep forking out to repair what disrespectful people are destroying."
