Skegness beach cordoned off in bomb scare drama

Coastguard staff sealed off part of Skegness beach yesterday (Monday, April 22) after a holidaymaker found a suspect device.

A member of the public approached Skegness Coastguard staff with the device as they were returning from another job.

A post on the Skegness Coastguard page said: “A member of the public approached us with what looked like ordnance, LincolnshireLive reported.

“We secured the item put a cordon in place until Humber (Coastguard headquarters)had got in touch with the bomb squad who confirmed it was not a threat to anyone or anything.

“Thank you to the member of the public who brought it to our attention. Seven team members attended, all members stood down and returned to our station."
