"I was so happy that tears welled up," Momiji Nishiya said Tuesday, recalling the moment she won the gold in women's street skateboarding the day before, becoming the Japan's youngest-ever medalist at age 13 on Monday.

Nishiya and bronze medalist Funa Nakayama, 16, held a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.

At the 1992 Barcelona Games, swimmer Kyoko Iwasaki took gold in the women's 200-meter breaststroke at age 14, saying, "This is the happiest moment of my entire life."

Asked about this comment, Nishiya replied, "So far, it is my best memory."

"I just want manga [as a prize]," Nakayama said.

Asked about Japanese teens' dominance in the sport, the two medalists replied coolly, saying age really does not matter for skateboarding.
