Skate season 1 was supposed to give the game a newer look and add more content, which the fans had been desperately waiting for. Now, season 1 did fulfill a lot of promises, but it also brought more problems with it.
Sure, San Vansterdam looks a bit more lived in than before. It also feels more skate-friendly, and the new lighting does give it a bit more light. But these changes have also brought performance issues.
People across different platforms are experiencing micro-stutters, laggy movements, sluggish characters, and overall a poor gameplay experience. If you think it was only you who was experiencing this, worry not — many others have, too.
A lot of players are experiencing major performance issues ever since Season 1 dropped. A Reddit user by the name of Euphoric-Musician455 took his frustration out on the Skate subreddit, and it started a whole thread of players complaining about the issues.
Skate Season 1 Performance Issues Are Making The Game Unplayable

There are multiple comments under this thread of players complaining about the severe degradation in performance. As one Redditor commented:
“Game’s performance went down bad too on Series S. Before the update, it was a smooth 60 fps, now there’s a really bad stutter. What a joke of a update”
It shows that the performance issues are platform-independent. No matter how good of PC you have or what console, the game still runs poorly. Then, there is the input lag. Skate tricks feel delayed, and character movements feel sluggish. Another comment on Reddit says:
“I agree completely. I thought something was wrong with my controller/monitor because of how different the player models felt and how much input delay there was. Super bummed because I genuinely was enjoying the gameplay (minus micro transactions) before the update, and now it feels almost unplayable.”
While there was a lack of content before Season 1, and San Vansterdam did feel soulless, the one thing that kept the players was the core gameplay. The skating itself was fun, no matter how boring the world felt. You could do clean kickflips, grind smoothly, and perform the flashy lines you want without any issues. But the recent update has made the skating awful.
The developers behind Skate are known to take community feedback seriously, so we hope they can understand these performance issues and we can get a patch to fix them. Because it’s not even fun to play the game currently.
