Design of three Lake Macquarie skate parks locked in, now for the builds

Lake Macquarie City Council has called for tenders to build three skate parks.

The council is seeking a contractor or multiple contractors to build skate and recreation facilities at Bernie Goodwin Memorial Reserve in Morisset, Bahloo Reserve in Windale and Thomas H Halton Park in Croudace Bay. The design of each skate park was determined via a public vote earlier this year.

The Windale facility will be double the size of the old skate park near the suburb's PCYC and includes a playground. The Croudace Bay facility will replace the suburb's existing skate park.

Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser said the three projects represented a more than $2 million investment.

"We have a very passionate and avid skating community in Lake Macquarie, so it was important that we create something for the community by the community," she said. "I'm confident that each of the skate parks will have something for everyone."

The council hopes to award the construction contracts before the end of the year. Morisset is expected to be built first, followed by Windale and Croudace Bay.
