Electronic Arts and Full Circle have announced that skate. will hit Early Access on September 16, free-to-play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the EA app. With cross-play and cross-progression included, players can link up with friends no matter where they play.
The action takes place in San Vansterdam, a sprawling city designed as a skater’s playground. It’s split into four unique neighborhoods—Hedgemont, Gullcrest, Market Mile and Brickswich—each with its own look, feel and challenges. From crowded plazas and rooftop runs to towering ramps and the House of Rolling Reverence, a converted church built for tricks, the city is packed with spots to discover.
At the core of the experience is the return of the Flick-It system, rebuilt in the Frostbite engine to deliver more precision and control than ever. Alongside the series’ signature tricks, new moves like wallies, slappies and firecrackers expand the possibilities. For players who want to sharpen their skills, Skatepedia offers a full breakdown of techniques, making the game approachable for newcomers while still giving veterans more challenge and depth.
Exploration goes beyond the board this time, with off-foot controls that let players climb, roam and find new ways to hit vertical lines. The Quick Drop feature makes it possible to place rails, ramps and benches anywhere in the city, customizing the perfect spot. World challenges rotate regularly, Throwdowns bring the competition to life with friends and Spectate mode allows players to instantly jump into ongoing sessions.

Community feedback has played a big role in shaping development and that will continue during Early Access. Each season will add new events, music, cosmetics and updates to San Vansterdam, keeping the experience evolving over time. The developers say their goal with skate. is to honor the series’ legacy while building something bigger, with freedom, creativity and community at the center.
