Skate Devs Address Early Access Woes, Offer Free Currency and Promise Major Fixes Ahead

The team behind skate. has checked in with a major Early Access update, acknowledging the game’s bumpy launch and outlining what players can expect moving forward. In a new development update, Full Circle says they’ve been “blown away” watching tens of millions of players drop into San Vansterdam, but admit the early weeks haven’t gone as smoothly as hoped.

To thank players for sticking with the game, everyone will receive 2,000 Tix and 500 SVB. The reward is available to claim now through December 2 at 9 AM PT, when Season 2 arrives. Tix can be spent in the current Season 1 skate.Pass, so players are encouraged to redeem and use them before the rollover hits.

Fixes For Bugs, Crashes, And Softlocks

Full Circle says a much larger player turnout than expected led to “bugs, glitches, progression locks, and performance issues.” The biggest focus right now is on fixing softlock scenarios that stop progression entirely. The dev team has laid out a three-step plan:

  • Identify each issue and affected players
  • Run batch fixes to unstick players
  • Implement long-term fixes so the same problems don’t return

These are labeled as a top priority, and the team says updates will continue as solutions roll out.

A recent October 21 update targeted daily task system overloads. While stability has improved, task-based bugs still slip through — such as a broken “Trick of the Day” challenge that needed emergency patching. The studio says response times will vary, but they’re reviewing community reports daily.

Improvements Coming For Progression, Economy, And Skate Pass

A major portion of the update focuses on tuning the game economy, which has been widely criticized for grind-heavy progression. Starting with Season 2, several improvements are planned:

  • skate.Pass tiers reduced in grind and expanded to around 90 tiers per season
  • 500 SVB now earnable through combined Standard and Premium tracks
  • Premium items receiving more unique value to justify spending
  • More licensed and branded cosmetics being actively developed for future seasons
  • Event currency rebalancing beginning with this month’s 7-Ply Maple Harvest event

The studio also addressed the overflow of Tix, as many players earned far more than needed to finish Season 1. Therefore, purchased Tix will fully roll over into Season 2, while free Tix will convert partially. Full Circle says they’ll continue adjusting this system based on feedback.
