Skate 4: How To Do The Lipslide

Tired of doing just boardlsides and feebles all day in Skate 4? Let me introduce you to the Lipslide. It’s basically the cooler cousin of a boardslide and feels way better than landing one. The trick seems simple at first, but like most tricks in the game, it’s smooth sailing once you understand the process.

So, let’s dive in as I break it down and guide you through the exact steps of doing the Lipslide.

What Is The Lipslide?

Lipslide in skate

The Lipside trick is a modified grind in which you roll up to a rail or a ledge, pop over it, and start sliding with the middle of your board locked on the coping. It looks way cooler than a regular boardslide, mostly because it requires clearing the rail before locking in.

Honestly? This one’s got some serious style points to grab. Easy to learn, but tough to master, and when you’ve got the grasp of it? Feels like an amazing addition.

Exact Controls

These are the exact controls for doing the Lipslide:

  • Approach & Pop: Gain some momentum and line up at a slight angle.
  • Jump: Start an Ollie (Hold Right Stick Down, then Up) to clear the rail or ledge.
  • Modifier: While airborne (before contact with the rail), hold Right Stick Right.
  • Grind: Land with your board sliding over the rail to lock into the lipslide.
  • Exit: Release the stick or pop out clean at the end. It’s your style.

How To Do The Lipslide, Step-By-Step

  • Setting up the line:
Pick a ledge or a rail with ample run-up space. Approach at a slight angle so your tail clears the rail on the pop.
  • Pop over:
Pop over and do an Ollie as you get close to the rail (Hold Right Stick Down, then Up). The key is popping over the coping and not directly at it. This sets the right positioning for the Lipslide.
  • Lock in the modifier:
When airborne, hold the Right Stick to the Right. Hold, not flick. This begins a Lipslide in the game.
  • Land and slide:
Aim to land with the center of your board over the coping. Center yourself for balance.
  • Clean exit:
As you approach the end of the rail or ledge, aim to land a clean exit.

Tips That Help

  • Angle matters:
Approaching at a slight angle makes Lipslides consistently register.
  • Start With No Speed:
Just stand near the rail and jump onto it. It gives you more time to get the input down.
  • Combine it with combos:
You can always pair it with a manual or revert, which comes out to be a sick combo in action.
