Skate 4: How To Complete Throwdowns

Throwdowns in Skate 4 are a blast. They’re time battles where you compete with other players for the highest trick score in a specific zone. So, if you’re looking to complete the “Simply the Best” achievement, which unlocks after winning 4 Throwdowns. This guide will save you a lot of stress.

How Throwdowns Work

Throwdowns are kinda like showdown battles, you drop a flag, tweak a few settings, and bam, everyone in the session can join in. When it starts, it’s all about pulling off the gnarliest and slickest lines, racking up that trick score to the top before the timer ends.

You can always hop into someone else’s Throwdown early in the game. However, hosting your own requires progressing the main mission first (Izzy’s crew arc). Once completed, that’ll unlock the ability to slap your flag down anywhere you want.

How To Start A Throwdown

Follow the steps below to start a Throwdown in Skate 4:

  • Hold down on the D-Pad to bring up the circular menu.
  • Spin the stick towards the boxing glove icon and select it.
  • Pick your desired zone and plant the flag.
  • Tweak settings accordingly (Player count / Privacy / Duration)
  • Wait for at least one other player (or invite a friend), then start

That kicks off the session and opens join and invitation options. If you’re not in the mood to deal with random players, simply set the privacy accordingly, toss an invite to a friend, or start as soon as someone else joins. While larger lobbies still count, they’re usually slower to fill.

So, no need to sit around twiddling your thumbs; less is better.

Tip: Keep the timer short (1 min) and the player count at 2 players if you’re grinding out wins.Less waiting, less competition, less chaos.

How To Complete And Win Throwdowns

Honestly, if you pull off a massive trick but bail, it’s going to kill your combo. The scoring system rewards consistent, smooth, and varied lines: no bails, just clean execution. Big combos can still win if landed cleanly. It’s all about maximizing multipliers with variety and not bailing.

So here’s a common sequence pattern I would recommend you use:

  • Start things off with a simple flip trick
  • Jump straight into a grind or a slide, keeping that momentum
  • Lock in a manual to keep your combo alive
  • Toss in an air or grab towards the end if you’re feeling it

Hit a bunch of varied tricks in one go, and your multiplier starts climbing, racking you extra trick score. However, if you bail? Bam, combo multiplier resets. So yeah, being consistent and smooth with your lines is way more important than just showing off.

You’ll notice the best players usually keep their runs short and flawless. In here, pulling off a short yet clean line with zero bails will often smoke the guy who tried to rack up a lot more but fell face-first at the end.

So, take it slow, keep it clean, and you’ll be racking up Throwdown wins in no time.

Fastest Method To Complete The Challenge

There’s a clever and fast route to unlocking the “Simply The Best” achievement if you don’t care about proving anything:

  • Party up with a friend
  • Either of you hosts a 2-player Throwdown
  • Set a 1-minute timer
  • You land a few tricks while your friend basically chills
  • Repeat until 4 Throwdown wins.
