The 76ers traded Nerlens Noel to the Dallas Mavericks for Justin Anderson, Andrew Bogut and a conditional first-round pick on Thursday. The Vertical was the first to report this news.
Noel was pulled from practice once the trade was agreed upon. He later walked on the court to say his goodbyes to his teammates and the members of the Sixers' organization.
Noel was the last remaining holdover from the Sixers' 2013-14 squad. The reserve center sat out what would have been his rookie season to rehabilitate the anterior cruciate ligament tear in his left knee.
The first-round pick the Sixers acquired from Dallas is a top-18-protected selection in the 2017 draft. That means if Dallas, based on its 2016-17 record, would pick in the first 18 spots, then the Mavericks keep the first-round pick. If that occurs, the Sixers would get the Mavericks second-round choice in 2017 and 2018. As of Thursday morning's standings, the Mavericks would keep the pick because only six teams had a worse winning percentage. The Sixers are among the six.
Bogut was the first overall pick in the 2005 draft. The center is in the final year of his contract. The Sixers are expected to buy him out of his $11.2 million deal.
Anderson is second-year swingman out of Virginia. He's averaging 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 51 games this season. Anderson started two games.
