CLEVELAND _ The 76ers are either cursed or extremely unfortunate.
The team announced Friday night that Robert Covington and Jahlil Okafor are the latest players to have their seasons cut shot by injuries.
An MRI on Wednesday revealed that Covington has a "slight" lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. Meanwhile, Okafor had been sidelined the past four games and nine total this season with right knee soreness. He has been dealing with knee soreness since having surgery to repair a "slight" meniscus tear in his right knee back on March 22, 2016.
The Sixers said Covington is going to continue to receive treatment until the appropriate next steps are discussed. The small forward is getting a second opinion to see if he'll need to have surgery. A team spokesperson said he does not believe Okafor had an MRI, recently.
Okafor and Covington join Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jerryd Bayless as Sixers with season-ending injuries.
Embiid had his season cut short after 31 games played because of a meniscus tear and a bone bruise in his left knee. Simmons has been sidelined the entire season with a Jones fracture in his right foot. Bayless only played in three games because of torn ligaments in his left wrist.
