Sixers part ways with director of applied analytics

The 76ers chose not to renew the contract of Lance Pearson, their director of applied analytics. Pearson, who worked for the team the past four seasons, received the news at the conclusion of the season.

"I want to thank the Philadelphia 76ers ... players, coaches, staff, fans for one of the best times and learning experiences of my life," Pearson tweeted. "I'll always treasure the memories, friends and knowledge I've gained here and wish everyone the best."

A holdover from former Sixers president of basketball operations/general manager Sam Hinkie's staff, Pearson's departure is far from surprising. New bosses usually like to bring in their own people. And it's obvious that Bryan Colangelo, who replaced Hinkie in April 2016, is doing the same.

Pearson joined the Sixers prior to the start of 2013-14 season as a basketball operations assistant. He was later promoted to the coaching analytics and special video projects coordination before taking on director's job last summer.
