NEW YORK _ The 76ers got former Washington standout Matisse Thybulle in a trade with the Boston Celtics Thursday night at the Barclays Center.
The senior swingman, picked No. 20 by the Celtics and traded in exchange for the No. 24 and No. 33 pick will provide solid defend in reserve role.
Thybulle averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.5 steals for the Huskies. He is regarded as the best perimeter defender in the draft. The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder did not work out for any NBA teams.
While his shot needs to be more consistent, there's an expectation that it will improve on the next level.
The Sixers finished with a 51-31 record this past season and lost to the eventual NBA champion Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Philly now has three second-round selections, Nos. 34, 432 and 54 in the draft.
