Six-year-old promised to stay in bedroom for 24 hours to raise money for NHS

A little girl has done what most children her age would find nearly impossible to raise over £1000 for the nurses who are treating her granny.

Alba MacGregor promised to stay in her bedroom for a full 24 hours to show her support for NHS heroes.

She allowed herself out of her room only for toilet breaks and managed to stay in her room the whole time, raising £1293 for St John’s Hospital.

The six-year-old wanted to do something to help key workers after granny Dawne MacGregor contracted Covid-19 in April.

Her mum Emma set up a Crowdfunding page.

She explained: “What started out as a bit of a joke in our house, has turned in to a fundraising opportunity.

“Alba set herself a challenge to do this; by staying in her bedroom for 24 hours (bathroom breaks permitted).

“This is a big challenge for any six year old.

“It’s an amazing amount to have raised for St John’s, and we are so grateful for your very kind donations.

“Alba would like to say thank you to each and every one of you.”
