Six-year-old girl escapes abduction attempt by man in Cambuslang street

Police Scotland are appealing for information after a Cambuslang schoolgirl was allegedly approached by a man last night.

The six-year-old was believed to be targeted at around 7:55pm last night in Beaton Walk.

It is claimed the man tried to make off with the child, who began kicking and screaming. The youngster managed to get away, according to the Rutherglen Reformer.

Police have launched inquiries in a bid to trace the man responsible

A spokesman for the force: "About 7:55 pm on Wednesday, September 25, a six-year-old girl was reported being approached by a man in Beaton Walk in Cambuslang.

"An investigation is ongoing and officers are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door to door inquiries in the area.

"Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101."
