Six test positive for coronavirus at Quarriers social care service in Barlanark

Six people have tested positive for coronavirus at Quarriers social care service in Barlanark, it has been confirmed.

The cases concern four members of staff and two people who are supported by the Calvay service in the east end of Glasgow - a further case has been recorded since the five confirmed yesterday.

Essential support is continuing in person, with staff wearing full PPE.

NHS Test and Protect has been rolled out at the centre.

A Quarriers spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: “Quarriers can confirm that four members of staff and two people supported – an increase of one case since yesterday - at Quarriers Calvay Service have tested positive for COVID-19. The service is in regular contact with Health Protection Scotland, Glasgow City HSCP, and is following all relevant advice.”

“Essential support is continuing in person with care staff wearing full PPE. To minimise risk and where assessed as appropriate, support is being offered by telephone.

“Staff and people we support at the service have been notified. A full list of people who had been in contact with the people affected has been supplied to the NHS Test and Protect team. Staff identified through Test and Protect are self-isolating for 14 days.  We wish those who have tested positive a speedy and full recovery.”
