Six young interstate travellers have been slapped with fines exceeding $5000 and taken to quarantine at Howard Springs after arriving in Darwin from a COVID-19 hotspot.
Two men and four women - aged between 29 and 31 - left Victoria for South Australia on 15 July, before making their way to the Top End five days later.
Northern Territory Police say the travellers included false information on their border entry forms.
"It's absolutely unacceptable that these people were willing to put the rest of our community at risk by their selfish actions," Incident Controller Acting Commander Hege Burns said.
"They will now spend the majority of their time in the Territory in mandatory quarantine."
The group was travelling together. Police took them from accommodation in Darwin to Howard Springs on Wednesday.
