What was the first song you ever bought?
Dub Be Good to Me – Beats International
It came out in 1990, when I was 11. I bought it on CD in Martins, the newsagent. It was a big festival tune that year, blasting out of soundsystems from traders in the markets. That was when my ears first pricked up to what was going on at the festival.
What song always gets you dancing?
Pressure Drop – Toots and the Maytals
I remember dancing to it a couple of years ago at the West Holts stage. It's a great upbeat record. The sun always comes out whenever they play the festival, and this song gets everyone dancing. The festival has been a constant musical reference to me.
What song takes you back to your childhood?
Madame George - Van Morrison
It's a great tale. Astral Weeks soundtracked many years of growing up on the farm. Van Morrison used to play Glastonbury almost every year; it would be good to have him back. My dad used to pick him up from the train station and then take him on stage; this was in the days before tour managers. It was a great childhood growing up with the festival, at times it was intense but I got to meet amazing people.
What is your perfect love song?
Breathless – Nick Cave
This was the first dance at our wedding in 2009. It's very intense but has a great energy to it. I don't think there's a more romantic song. It speaks for itself.
What song would you want at your funeral?
Lord and Master – Heron
It feels like an ancient folk song but it was written in the 70s. It's all about nature and has the most beautiful lyrics about water singing to the soil and being a friend of the trees. It's reflective but not overly morbid. I find it reassuring.
Time for the encore. One last song that makes you, you
Winterlude – Bob Dylan
This song was sung at our wedding by a friend. It's very romantic, about meadows and chapels. I prefer Dylan's softer music.
