Six people rushed to hospital after early hours crash

Six people were taken to hospital by ambulance after a crash in the early hours of Sunday.

The emergency services were called out to Reeds Lane in Leasowe at around 1am on Sunday following reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Insignia and a Toyota Avensis.

Six ambulances and two specialist paramedics were sent to the scene of the accident, near Leasowe railway station.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said five people suffered "serious injuries" and that a total of six patients were taken to hospital from the scene.

A police spokesman said to the ECHO: "We were called to Reeds Lane at around 1.05am on Sunday 5th July, to reports of a two vehicle collision between a Vauxhall Insignia and a Toyota Avensis.

"The male driver and rear seat passenger in the Insignia suffered serious injuries and the male front seat passenger in the Insignia and male driver and two passengers in the Avensis suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

"The two males seriously injured remain in hospital."
