St Cuthbert Wanderers dished out six of the best as they finished 2021 in style.
The Kirkcudbright side thumped Lochar Thistle 6-0 in their last game of the year last Wednesday night.
Boss Jordan Williamson said: “It was 3-0 before half-time. As big as the scoreline was, it would have been nice to have scored more goals.
“At the same time the most important factor was professionalism.
“ It could have quite easily petered out with it being a midweek game, boys coming after work and rushing to get the warm-up started.
“It had all the ingredients for boys to take their foot off the gas and go through the motions but they kept at it.
“They continued on the front foot, didn’t let Lochar rest and it paid off for us.”
Dale Milligan gave Saints an early lead and he doubled the advantage after half an hour.
Russell Williamson quickly added a third with Lochar having Liam Robertson sent off before the break.
Thomas Kelly scored the fourth with a back heel just before the hour before Milligan completed his hat-trick, with Luke Currie rounding off the scoring.
The Saints gaffer added: “When Dale’s on fire and on tune, if he scores a goal it’s more than likely he’ll score two or three.
“It’s maybe his consistency we need to work on to make sure he picks up solitary goals.
“He can go two or three games without a goal, then there will be two or three games where he scores a couple in each.
“As long as he’s putting the ball in the back of the net that’s his job.
“He’s a good player to have and I’m glad he’s part of our squad rather than the opposition. On his day he is unstoppable.
“It’s also back-to-back games in which Russell and Thomas have scored.
“Scoring in the last two games will give them confidence going into the New Year.”
