Six of Prince Harry's latest digs at royals after claiming he wanted to rebuild bridges

Prince Harry has endured one of the toughest weeks of his live - and has been slamming his family once again.

It started with the news that Harry and wife Meghan Markle are being booted out of Frogmore Cottage by his father, King Charles, and reportedly replaced by Prince Andrew.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed they have been "requested to vacate" their UK home in a move that has reportedly left them "stunned" - and two other royals "appalled".

Then Harry sat down with Dr Gabor Maté, an expert in trauma and childhood development, discuss living with loss and the importance of personal healing - which also involved criticising the royals.

Here is a look at some of his recent digs at the Royal Family.

Harry and rest of family 'don't speak the same language'

During a chat with Canadian author Dr Maté on Saturday night, Harry explained he realised he needed to escape the royals after undergoing therapy.

Dr Gabor Maté, who has 20 years of medical practice behind him, diagnosed Harry with Attention Deficit Disorder and explained it was a "normal response to abnormal stress".

The Duke of Sussex went on to claim he 'doesn't speak the same language' as the rest of his family.

Harry said: "I realised that I'd learned a new language and people that I was surrounded by once, they didn't speak the language – and so I actually felt more pushed aside."

He added therapy had helped him and he realised he was "more and more distant from loved ones".

Smothering Archie and Lilibet with love

While Harry has described his father of being cold, he has revealed his parenting technique is to 'smother' his kids with 'love and affection'.

He told Dr Maté that he lacked physical contact as a child, but joked he didn't want to 'smother' Archie and Lilibet to the point they're 'trying to get away'.

"But in the sense that I as a father feel a huge responsibility to ensure that I don't pass on any traumas or negative experiences I've had," he said.

"And that's work, that's putting in the work, and daily, being conscious of my behaviour, of my reactions to both of my kids.

"And there are times when I catch myself in a moment when I should be smothering them with that love and in that moment, I might not be, reminding myself [to]. I wouldn't have been as aware of it had I not done the therapy and work that I've done."

It's also recently been claimed that Meghan struggled with "silly" royal rules - such as having to announce when you are leaving so a senior royal is never upstaged - and didn't want that for her kids.

A staff member has shared Meghan's struggle with royal rules in Tom Quinn's new book, Gilded Youth An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family.

The former advisor said: "I think Charles agreed with Meghan on many points - he thought much of the protocol was silly, but it is hard to change.

"William has bought into it, which is why George and Louis and Charlotte are so conventional and look like something out of the 1950s.

"Meghan wants something different from this for her children - she wants American freedom to do and say what you like and go where you like."

Reaction to Frogmore eviction

Harry and Meghan are being forced to leave Frogmore Cottage - the home that was gifted to them by the late Queen.

According to Omid Scobie, one of the authors behind the biography of Harry and Meghan, Finding Freedom, the King's decision came after Harry released his controversial memoir Spare in January.

He claimed that the couple was told the property was needed for "someone else" and that relations between the Sussexes and the rest of the Firm was at "an all-time low".

He also said that Harry and Meghan were left "stunned" by the movie, while two other royals have also been left "appalled".

Writing for Yahoo, he explained: "It's news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family 'appalled'."

And he quoted a friend of the couple as saying: "It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment. It’s like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good."

Harry couldn't live free

Harry evoked images of prison life when he explained that he was 'trapped' by the royals.

He claimed the privileged system he was part of stopped him from being able to live a free life - and wife Meghan Markle was the one who saved him.

"I was stuck in this world and she was from a different world and helped draw me out of that," he told Dr Maté.

Asked about how it felt to break free from "fancy captivity" by quitting the UK for California, Harry replied: "It feels great.

"Once the book came out I felt incredibly free. I felt a huge weight off my shoulders. The system in which I was part of doesn’t encourage free living."

Harry 'felt different' to rest of royals

While speaking to Dr Maté, Harry claimed that he is somehow different to all of the other royals.

Explaining how elements of his childhood were incredibly painful, Harry drew parallels with his mother, the late Princess Diana, who tragically died in 1997.

Dr Maté said Harry's "rich life" had been "deprived of touch" from his father and grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry has tried to describe the feeling of being 'different', saying that while he was physically in the family he was never mentally.

"I certainly have felt throughout my life, my younger years, I always felt slightly different to the rest of my family," claimed Harry.

"I felt strange being in this container and I know that my mum felt the same.

"It makes sense to me. It didn’t make sense at the time. I felt as though my body was in there and my head was out."

Five words for future

After being asked to pick five words to describe his future, Harry gave telling words that appeared to allude to him quitting as a working royal.

A clip of Harry answering 15 light-hearted questions was shown on TV last week but was recorded when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this year.

One of the questions that was posed to Harry was "describe the rest of his life in just five words".

After taking a moment to consider the words he would choose, Harry said: "Freedom, happiness, clarity, space, love."

It comes after he previously described a flight he took to his new home in the US in 2020 as the "freedom flight".
