Six new coronavirus deaths recorded in Dumfries and Galloway

A further six people in the region have lost their lives in the coronavirus.

The latest update shows 85 deaths have been registered in 2021 where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate.

It takes the total since the pandemic began to 164.

The National Records of Scotland figures show that between February 22 and 28 there were 227 coronavirus deaths, 64 less than the previous week.

It takes the overall total for the pandemic to 9,580.

This differs from the figure announced during First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's daily briefings, which is based on the number of people to have died within 28 days of a positive test.

Using that method, there were 7,164 deaths as of yesterday.
