Six Nations player infected with coronavirus released from hospital as her team-mates are told to resume normal life

The Six Nations women's player who was diagnosed with coronavirus has been released from hospital.

Scotland's participation in the competition was ended after the diagnosis was made, and seven members of the squad and management team were placed into self isolation earlier this month.

The infected player was hospitalised before the news became public on March 6 but it was now been confirmed she has recovered 10 days later.

All of the self-isolating players have also been declared free to continue their lives as normal.

The squad were in Italy when that match against the Italians, which was due to take place in Legnano, north-west Milan, was cancelled hours before kick-off on 23 February.

Their subsequent matches against France and Wales were also called off.

In a statement on Monday, the Scottish Rugby Union said: "We are pleased to confirm the Scotland women player who contracted coronavirus has now been released from hospital, no longer needs to self-isolate and is feeling back to normal.

"The seven Scotland women players and staff self-isolating have also been cleared to resume daily life."
