Wales v Scotland still 'likely to go ahead' despite reports it has been postponed

Wales v Scotland is still likely to go ahead despite some reports it is off.

France v Ireland has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, with the reports in France claiming the Six Nations committee was set to postpone the entire final weekend until October 31.

But WalesOnline understands the WRU are still working on the basis the game will go ahead on Saturday.

The French government has put a ban on gatherings of 1,000 people or more - with exemptions on protests, exams and public transport.

With Italy v England already on ice due to the virus and France v Ireland looking increasingly likely to follow suit, talk emerged of the entire final round of the tournament being wiped out.

Midi Olympique say that tournament organisers would prefer to postpone all fixtures and replay them on the same date - October 31 - so as to have a traditional 'Super Saturday' style final round, when all teams play on the same day.

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said last night that the sporting events in the UK were not likely to be affected by the virus in the immediate future.

Governing bodies and broadcaster will meet with UK government officials today.

Six Nations sources have told WalesOnline the French reports are "speculation" at present and no official decision has been taken by the Six Nations committee.

It's understood the WRU will be guided by the advice and decisions of health experts, government officials and the Six Nations committee.
