Wales were denied the Grand Slam at the death in Paris as France fought back to clinch a thrilling 32-30 win to keep their hopes of winning the Six Nations championship alive.
Wayne Pivac’s side were seconds away from clinching a second Grand Slam in three years, but their ill-discipline cost them - and France can now win the tournament if they beat Scotland by a bonus point next Friday.
It would represent a considerable turnaround in fortunes, given that Wales won just three of their 10 Test matches last year.
Meanwhile, England will finish fifth after their miserable 32-18 defeat by Ireland in Dublin.
Italy were already guaranteed the wooden spoon after being thrashed by Scotland at Murrayfield.
