Six more deaths in Scotland as coronavirus cases rise to 1563

Nicola Sturgeon has announced that there has been six more deaths in the last 24 hours caused by the novel coronavirus.

The Scottish Government also confirmed 179 new cases of COVID- 19 bringing to Scottish total to 1563.

The total deaths in Scotland have increased by six bringing the total deaths to 47.

It has also been confirmed that there is now 108 people in intensive care across Scotland an increase of 16 overnight.

The Scottish Government held a remote coronavirus press conference via video for the first time.

It comes after the news that that Scottish Secretary Alister Jack is now self-isolating after developing coronavirus symptoms, while UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed on Friday that  he had tested positive  for the disease.
