Six month old puppy already looking for his third home

One pup is looking for his third home despite being only six-months-old.

Duke, a German Shepherd and Alsatian crossbreed, has found himself in Dogs Trust Merseyside again after two failed rehoming attempts because of his complex needs.

The handsome pup has a number of issues including pain in his elbows and is currently on pain relief.

Despite being very young, his current pains may affect him in the future especially as he is such an active dog.

Dogs Trust Merseyside said: "He is very active and needs to have his body and mind stimulated regularly, and has already been having a go at scent work to give him something to focus on.

"Duke responds very well to training and is looking for an experienced family who isn't afraid to put some work in.

"Duke loves to be made a fuss of and gets all puppy-silly when you give him some affection, and definitely returns it tenfold."

The canine loves meeting new people but the team are currently trying to teach him a more polite way of doing so as opposed to his current method of jumping up.

Ideally, the team are looking for an adopter that understands Duke's breed and can look past his good looks and youth.

Duke enjoys the company of other dogs but unfortunately can be "terribly rude and grabby," therefore until he has learnt to control himself more, it is best that Duke is the only pet at home with some careful introductions outside of the house.

He also isn't suitable for living with children and any youngsters in the home would need to be older teenagers.

As his training needs are quite complex and cover multiple issues, the team at the centre will be on hand throughout Duke's adoption and beyond, making sure that everyone is getting the support they need.

If you feel that you could be the right match for Duke, Dogs Trust Merseyside would love to hear from you.
