Six men charged with murder of Miguel Reynolds after morning raids

Six men have been charged with the murder of Miguel Reynolds following raids across Merseyside.

Miguel Reynolds was shot dead in a brutal daylight attack just over a year ago.

The 21-year-old, from Manchester, died after the incident on Assissian Crescent in Netherton from a fatal bullet wound to the neck.

Twelve months on from the murder, Merseyside Police put doors in across the region in the hope of bringing his killer to justice.

On Thursday morning, six people were arrested on suspicion of his murder - and conspiracy to rob - in a significant development in the investigation this morning.

Police teams struck at two homes in Sefton, arresting men at both just after 8.30am.

The execution of a warrant at one of the homes, in Litherland , resulted in police detaining a man who was led outside in his pyjamas.

Three suspects were produced from prisons on Merseyside and one from a jail in the West Midlands.

Officers have now confirmed that six men have been charged in connection with Miguel's murder.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We have today, Thursday, 13 June, charged six people in connection with the murder of Miguel Reynolds in Netherton in June last year.

"Liam Watson, 30, of no fixed address was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition.

"Paul Blackhurst, 26, of Plaza Boulevard, Liverpool was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition.

"Jake Mawhinney, 20, of Royton Road, Waterloo was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition.

"Dale Avery, 24, of no fixed abode, was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition.

"Kyle Sanders, 20, of Weightman Grove, Liverpool was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition.

"James Harrison, 21, of Kirkstone Road North, Litherland was charged with murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to possess a firearm and ammunition."

All six were remanded in custody and will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday, 14 June 2019).
