As with all major supermarkets during lockdown, things at Lidl are constantly evolving and changing to ensure social distancing measures are being followed and that staff and customers are kept as safe as possible.
Alongside the likes of Asda, Tesco, Aldi and M&S, the supermarket has made changes to its shopping rules, opening times and safety precautions to keep shoppers safe during the covid-19 pandemic.
We've compiled an up to date list of the latest changes you'll notice at Lidl stores so you know what to expect when shopping.
1. Opening hours
Most stores are now open from 8am-10pm on Monday-Saturday, and from 11am-5pm on Sundays.
Lidl is advising shoppers to check their local store before visiting as opening hours are likely to have changed.
2. Protective screens for store teams
Lidl has installed cough and sneeze proof screens at each of the checkouts, to help protect store teams and customers.
3. Increased contactless payment limit – now £45
Lidl has increased the contactless payment limit in all stores, from £30 to £45.
4. Changes to the bakery
As a temporary measure, teams will be pre-bagging all bakery items.
5. Busiest and quietest times to visit
Lidl has updated its information about the busiest and quietest times to shop in stores.
- 8am-11am: Busy
- 11am-2pm: Average
- 2pm-close: Quiet
6. Product quantity limitations
Lidl has now lifted volume restrictions on all items apart from toilet paper, and is reverting to the previous policy of allowing all customers to purchase ‘usual household’ quantities again. This is, as ever, at the store manager’s discretion and Lidl asks for continued consideration for colleagues and other customers when shopping in store.
